Homepage for Activity 2 - Immigration song: Tres Veces Mojado

Los_tigres_del_Norte_2.jpg

In this activity we will experience a typical Latino song about immigration. The song is called "Tres Veces Mojado" by Los Tigres Del Norte. The title refers to someone who had to cross 3 different boarders to arrive in the USA. The expression "tres veces mojado" translates to " three times a wetback", thus indicating the 3 boarder crossings. The hurdles that a "wetback" - an emmigrant - experiences when he tries to make a better, safer life for himself are ironically often more dangerous than the life he is trying to escape from. So why would someone risk their life to come to the United states? Vamos a ver!
